Shapiro emerged as one of the premier wrestlers in the nation during his Cornell career, earning All-America honors three times while establishing himself among the most accomplished competitors in program history. A two-time Ivy League Wrestler of the Year and two-time Ivy League champion at 157 pounds, he compiled a 60-10 career record. After winning a U20 World Championship prior to his freshman season, Shapiro immediately made his mark at Cornell by earning All-America honors and an EIWA title in 2024, finishing third nationally while posting a 27-3 record and tying the school single-season mark with 10 technical falls. He followed with a fifth-place NCAA finish as a sophomore and an eighth-place finish as a junior. He transferred out of Cornell following his junior campaign.
