Derr became the program's second three-time All-American, earning 1st team honors as a center forward in 1950, 2nd team honors in 1948 and honorable mention in '49. He set then-Cornell career records for goals scored (23) and points (46) and season records for goals (12) and points (24). He was captain and team MVP in 1950 and key member of the 1948 and 1949 teams that won the Eastern Intercollegiate Soccer League championship. Over his three years with the varsity, Cornell posted an overall record of 16-3-6; the '48 team was ranked No. 3 in the nation.
