Ross won All-Ivy first-team honors as a goalkeeper for the men's soccer team in 1973 and 1974, as Cornell was an NCAA playoff participant both seasons. In addition, he was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association All-America second team and to the All-New York State first team in 1974. He holds season and career records for saves, save percentage and shutouts. During his three-year varsity career, he had 18 shutouts in 35 games played, and allowed 25 goals for a goals against average of 0.7. He served as co-captain and was selected as the Cornell Sun Athlete of the Year as a senior.
