Doupe was an All-American 1975 when he placed sixth at outdoor NCAAs. He qualified for NCAA championships three times. He placed sixth at the 1974 and '75 outdoor NCAAs. Doupe won the shot put at outdoor IC4As in 1974 & '75 and was second at outdoor IC4As in 1978. He won outdoor Heps shot put in 1974, '75 and '78. Doupe won indoor Heps title in 1975 and was second in the 1978 indoor Heps. He was second at the 1975 Penn Relays. He held Cornell indoor, outdoor and Barton Hall shot records. Doupe took a year from school to prepare for the 1976 Olympics and won the team's outstanding weightman award in 1978.
