Pettit was named to the All-America First Team in 1971, concluding a career in which he racked up 58 goals and 68 assists for 126 points. At the time, that tied classmate Brian McCutcheon for seventh on the program's all-time scoring list. He was also named to the All-ECAC Team in 1971, and the All-Ivy League First Team in both 1970 and 1971.
