Robbins was a two-time All-American and a two-time Heps champion in the javelin in his three varsity seasons. Robbins took ninth at the 2013 NCAA Championships and eighth in 2016, earning a spot in the finals both times. Though he was only able to compete twice as a junior outdoors, he shattered the school mark twice, pushing it out to 248-11 (previous mark was 232-6 by Scott Benowicz). As a sophomore, Robbins won the Penn Relays College section of the javelin with a throw of 231-10, claimed the Outdoor Heps title by nearly two full meters, and then won the Outdoor IC4As by nearly three meters of his closest competitor. He qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships by taking 10th at the NCAA East Regional in Greensboro, N.C. He transferred in from Kent State where he was an NCAA qualifier as a freshman. After graduation, Robbins placed sixth at the Olympic Trials.
